WHY SOME PRAYERS ARE NOT ANSWERED
As You continue to read your scripture and pray many questions are bound to arise in your mind. And no wonder; for truth is so limitless that none can hope to compass it in any brief period of time. Occasionally you may stumble on an answer accidentally, but usually, it has to be searched for with diligence. Sometimes you may see it as a flash of light from heaven, but more often you will find it only after careful study and earnest prayer. Possibly you will need help from your Bishop or a reliable scripture correspondence course.
In a blog article of this size, it would be impossible to consider all the problems that might occur to a wide diversity of readers. Consideration will be given, however, to a few that most frequently arise.
One such question concerns unanswered prayer. Perhaps you have asked it yourself. If God is a God of love, why doesn’t He answer all my prayers? There is no doubt about God’s willingness to answer. “Call unto me, and I will answer,” He says (Jeremiah 33:3). Again, “Ask, and it shall be given you; for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” ( Mathew 7:7,8).
Nor is there any doubt about God’s ability to answer. He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think ( Ephesians 3:20).
Nevertheless, it is clearly evident, from everybody’s experience, that some prayers are not answered. Why? Are any conditions attached to prayer? There are seven:
1) You must have faith.
“Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” ( Mathew 21:22 ). You must believe that God is able to do what you ask Him to do. “Without faith, it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
2) You must be thankful.
“Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” ( Philippians 4:6). “Thanksgiving” connotes a worshipful state of mind, which is as important as believing in God’s power to help.
3) Your identity must be at one with God.
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). This has the same meaning as Psalm 34:15: “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears open unto their cry.” Identification with God’s righteous purposes is essential. Being in one with God involves memorizing His values, thinking about them, and putting them into practice. It means giving God and his values first place in all one’s plans and decisions.
4) You must be resigned to His will.
“And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us” (1 John 5:14). Jesus set the supreme example in Gethsemane when He prayed, “O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt….. Thy will be done” ( Mathew 26:39-42). As it is God’s will that ultimately will be done, it is but wise and reasonable to yield to His will before you pray.
5) You must be patient.
“I waited patiently for the Lord, and he inclined unto me, and hear my cry,” said King David in Psalm 40:1. Again, Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thin heart: wait, I say, on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
6) You must cherish no sinful desire.
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). This does not mean that a person has to be perfect before he can pray. Over and over again God invites sinners to call upon Him. But it does mean that unless you are sorry for your sins and are willing to be free from every evil thought, word, and deed, your prayers will not be effective.
As Isaiah says, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that he will not hear” ( Isaiah 59:1,2)
Sin separates man from God. Like dirt in your smartphone charging device and other kinds of digital network connection, it stops the flow of power.
When the disciples were confronted by a man with a lunatic son they found themselves powerless. Wondering why, they asked Jesus to explain, not realizing that their failure was due to their own petty, quarrelsome thoughts as to who should be greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. See Luke 9:38-44. God does not work miracles in such an atmosphere.
Nor does He answer prayers of a purely selfish nature. Says James: “You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions” ( James 4:3). A prayer for a new latest Ferrari or to win a $100,000 lottery on a TV program, will not have a very high priority in the courts of heaven.
7) You must Pray in the name of Jesus.
“Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it” ( John 14:13,14). This means much more, of course than merely saying, “In Jesus name,” or For Christ’s sake,” at the end of a prayer. It suggests a desire to glorify God by asking only those things that are pleasing to Him and will be helpful to His cause.
In conclusion
Should there still be a delay for reasons you cannot perceive or understand, hold on to His arm of love? Keep on praying. Remember Paul’s experience. After being struck down on the Damascus road by a light “brighter than the sun,” he suffered severely from a “thorn in the flesh” from which he often sought deliverance.” Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me,” he says (2 Corinthians 12:8). But it didn’t leave him. Instead, he was given this message to sustain his spirit: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
For some reason known only to God, it was best for Paul to bear this trial. So his oft-repeated prayer was not granted.
It could happen this way with you. If so, do not lose heart. Hold fast your faith in God. Say with Jeremiah: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is they faithfulness. ‘the Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him” (Lamentations 3:22-24).
Beyond all questions, His grace is sufficient for you.
ဘာကြောင့် အချို့ ဆုတောင်းမှုများသည် ဖြေကြားခြင်းမခံရသလဲ?
သင် ကျမ်းစာများဖတ်လာလျှင် သင့်စိတ်ထဲရှိသော မေးခွန်းများကို ဘုရားသခင်ထံ ဆုတောင်းမိလာပါလိမ့်မည်။ အမှန်တရားသည် အဆုံးမဲ့သောကြောင့် ဘယ်သူမဆို ထိုအမှန်တရားကို လူ့ဘ၀ အချိန်တိုအတွင်းမှာ ရှာဖွေနိုင်ဖို့ရန် အင်မတန် ခက်ခဲလှပါတယ်။ တစ်ခါတစ်လေ သင်ကိုယ်တိုင်တောင် မထင်ထားမိတဲ့ အချိန်မှာ သင်သိချင်နေသော အမှန်တရားတစ်ခုကို မတော်တဆ ခလုတ်တိုက်မိပြီး ရှာတွေ့နိုင်သော်လည်း ထိုသို့ ဖြစ်ဖို့ရာအတွက် သင့်အနေနှင့် လုံ့လစိုက်ထုတ်မှုရှိရပါမည်။ တစ်ခါတစ်ရ့ သင့်အနေနှင့် ထိုအရာကို ကောင်းကင်ဘုံမှ အလင်းရောင်တစ်ခုအလား ထင်မှတ်မိနိုင်ပါတယ်။ သင်သိချင်နေသော အမှန်တရားကို အချိန်မြန်မြန် သိနိုင်ရန်အတွက် သင်သည် ကျမ်းစာများလေ့လာပြီး ဆုတောင်းမှုများ ပြုလုပ်နေရပါမည်။ သင့် ဘုရားကျောင်းမှ သင်းအုပ်ဆရာ၏ အကူအညီနှင့် အမှန်တရားတစ်ခုကို ရှာဖွေလေ့လာနိုင်သလို ယုံကြည်ရသော ကျမ်းစာသင်တန်းမှလည်း သင်ကြားနိုင်ပါတယ်။
ယခု ဘလော့် ရေးသည့်နေရာတွင် လူပေါင်းများစွာတွင် မျိုးစုံဖြစ်နေသည့် ပြသာနာများကို ခန့်မှန်း တွေးဆကြည့်ဖို့ရာ ခက်ခဲပါသည်။ လူအများစု ထံကြုံတွေ့တတ်ကြတဲ့ ပြသာနာများကို တွေးဆပြီး ရေးသားထားပါတယ်။
ဆုတောင်းသလောက် လိုချင်တာမရခြင်းသည် တော်တော်များများ သိချင်နေကြတဲ့ ပြသာနာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်ပါလိမ့်မည်။ သင့်ကိုယ်သင်လည်း “ဘုရားသခင်သည် ချစ်ခြင်းတရားများကို အခြေခံသော ဘုရားဖြစ်ပါလျှင် ဘာကြောင့် ငါ့မေးခွန်းကို ဖြေဆိုရသလဲ? ငါ့ဆုတောင်းကို ဘာကြောင့် မဖြေဆိုရသလဲ?” ဆိုတဲ့မေးခွန်းတွေကို ရန်ဖန်ရန်ခါ မေးကောင်းမေးမိပါလိမ့်မည်။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကူညီလိုသော စိတ်၊ သင့်မေးခွန်းများကို ဖြေဆိုလိုသော စိတ်ကို မေးခွန်းထုတ်စရာမရှိပါ။ “ငါ့ကို ခေါ်လော့၊ ငါထူးမည်” ဟုလည်း (ယေရမိကျမ်း ၃၃း၃) မှာ ဘုရားသခင်က မိန့်ကြားထားပါတယ်။ “တောင်းကြလော့။ တောင်းလျှင်ရမည်။ ရှာကြလော့။ ရှာလျှင်တွေ့မည်။ တံခါးကိုခေါက်ကြလော့။ ခေါက်လျှင်ဖွင့်မည်။ တောင်းသောသူမည်သည်ကား ရ၏။ ရှာသောသူလည်း တွေ့၏။ ခေါက်သောသူအားလည်း တံခါးကို ဖွင့်၏။ ” ဟုလည်း (ရှင်မသဲ ခရစ်၀င်ကျမ်း ၇း၇,၈) မှာ မိန့်ကြားထားပါတယ်။
ဘုရားသခင်၏ လူတွေ၏ မေးခွန်းများကို ဖြေဆိုနိုင်သည့် စွမ်းပကားကိုလည်း မေးခွန်းမထုတ်သင့်ပါ။ ကျနော်တို့ လူသားတွေ သိလိုသည်များကို ဖြေကြားပေးရန် ဘုရားသခင်သည် ပေါများစွာသော အားထုတ်မှုများ လုပ်လျှက်ရှိသည်။ (ဧဖက် ဩ၀ါဒစာ ၃း၂၀ )
ဆုတောင်းတိုင်းမပြည့်ဘူး ဆိုသည်မှာ လူတိုင်းလိုလိုကြုံတွေ့ရသည့် အတွေ့အကြုံတစ်ခုလည်းဖြစ်သည်ကို ထင်ရှားစွားသိနိုင်ပါသည်။ ဘာကြောင့်လဲ? လူတို့ ဆုတောင်းသည့် အခါတိုင်း မှာဖြစ်နေတတ်သည့် အခြေအနေများနှင့် သက်ဆိုင်တတ်ပါသလား? အချက် ( ၇ ) ချက်ရှိပါတယ်။
၁) သင့်မှာ ယုံကြည်သက်၀င်မှုရှိရပါမည်။
“ယုံကြည်ခြင်းပါလျက် ပဌနာပြု၍ ဆုတောင်းသမျှတို့ကို သင်တို့သည်ရကြလိမ့်မည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။” ဟုလည်း (ရှင်မသဲခရစ်၀င်ကျမ်း ၂၁း၂၂) မှာ ဖော်ပြထားပါတယ်။ ဘုရားကို သင်တောင်းဆိုသမျှကို ဘုရားသခင်က ဖြည့်ပေးနိုင်သည်ကို သင်ယုံကြည်ရပါမည်။ “ယုံကြည်ခြင်းမရှိလျှင်၊ ဘုရားသခင်၏ စိတ်တော်နှင့်မတွေ့နိုင်။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ဘုရားသခင် အထံတော်သို့ ချဉ်းကပ်သောသူသည်၊ ဘုရားသခင်ရှိတော်မူသည်ကို၎င်း၊ ကိုယ်တော်ကို ရှာသောသူအား အကျိုးပေးတော်မူသည်ကို၎င်း၊ ယုံကြည်ရမည်။” (ဟေဗြဲ ၁၁း၆)။
၂) သင့်မှာ ကျေးဇူးသိတတ်သောစိတ်ရှိရပါမည်။
“အဘယ်အမှုကိုမျှ စိုးရိမ်ခြင်းမရှိဘဲ အရာရာ၌ ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းခြင်းနှင့်တကွ ဆုတောင်းပဌနာ ပြုသောအားဖြင့်၊ သင်တို့တောင်း ပန်လိုသောအရာများတို့ကို ဘုရားသခင်အား ကြားလျှောက်ကြလော့။” (ဖိလိပ္ပိ ၄း၆)။ ကျေးဇူးတော် ချီးမွမ်းခြင်းသည် ကိုးကွယ်ယုံစားတတ်သော စိတ်ကို ပေါ်လွင်စေသည်။ထိုအရာသည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကြီးမားလှသော စွမ်းအားကို ယုံကြည်ရာလည်း ရောက်သည်။
၃) သင်သည် ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် နီးနီးကပ်ကပ်ရှိနေရမည်။
“သင်တို့သည် ငါ၌တည်၍ ငါ့စကားသည်သင်တို့၌တည်လျှင်၊ သင်တို့သည်တောင်းချင်သမျှကို တောင်း ၍ရကြလိမ့်မည်။” (ယောဟန် ၁၅း၇)။ (ဆာလံကျမ်း ၃၄း ၁၅ ) ကဲ့သို့ ဆိုလိုရင်းတူညီသည်။ ” ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ဖြောင့်မတ်သောသူတို့ကို ကြည့်ရှုတော်မူ၏။ သူတို့ အော်ဟစ်သံကိုလည်း နား ထောင်တော်မူ၏။” ဘုရားသခင်၏ လူသားများ၏ ကောင်းမွန်ဖြောင့်မတ်မှုရှိမရှိ
၄) သင်သည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ အလိုတော်အတိုင်း နှုတ်ထွက်နိုင်ရမည်။
“ငါတို့သည် ဘုရားသခင့်အထံတော်၌ ရဲရင့်ခြင်း အကြောင်းဟူမူကား၊ ငါတို့သည်အလိုတော်နှင့်အညီ တစုံတခုသောဆုကို တောင်းလျှင်၊ ဘုရားသခင်သည် နားထောင်တော်မူ၏။” (၁ ယောဟန် ၅း၁၄)။ ယေရှုခရစ်တော်သည် ဂေသရှေမန် တွင် ဆုတောင်းနေချိန် ပြင်းထန်သော သာဓက တစ်ခုကို ချမှတ်ခဲ့သည်။ “ထိုအခါ စားလျက်နေကြစဉ်တွင်၊ ယေရှုသည် မုန့်ကိုယူ၍ ကျေးဇူးတော်ကိုချီးမွမ်းပြီးမှ မုန့်ကိုဖဲ့၍၊ ဤမုန့်ကား ငါ၏ကိုယ်ဖြစ်၏။ ယူ၍စားကြလော့ဟု မိန့်တော်မူလျက်၊ တပည့်တော်တို့အား ပေးတော်မူ၏။ခွက်ကိုလည်းယူ၍ ကျေးဇူးတော်ကိုချီးမွမ်းပြီးမှ သူတို့အားပေးတော်မူ၍ သင်တို့ရှိသမျှသည် သောက် ကြလော့။” (ရှင်မသဲခရစ်၀င် ၂၆း၃၉-၄၂ )။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ အစွမ်းသည် အင်မတန်မှ ကြီးမားလှသော ကြောင့် သင်ဆုမတောင်းမှီ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ချီးမွန်းသင့်သည်။
၅) သင့်မှာ စိတ်ရှည်သည်းခံမှုရှိရမည်။
“ငါသည် ထာဝရဘုရားကို စေ့စေ့မြော်လင့်သည် ကာလ၊ ငါ့ကို မျက်နှာပြု၍ ငါအော်ဟစ်သောအသံကို ကြားတော်မူ၏။” ဟု ဘုရင် David က (ဆာလံကျမ်း၄၀း၁)မှာ ဆိုထားပါတယ်။ ပြီးနောက် “ထာဝရဘုရားကို မြော်လင့်လော့။ အားယူ၍ ရဲရင့်သော စိတ်နှလုံးရှိလော့။ ထာဝရဘုရားကို မြော်လင့် လျက်နေလော့။”ဟု (ဆာလံကျမ်း ၂၇း၁၄) မှာဆိုထားပါတယ်။
၆) သင့်မှာ မကောင်းသော အရာများကို တောင့်တသော လိုအင်မရှိသင့်ပါ။
” ငါသည် စိတ်နှလုံးထဲမှာ ဒုစရိုက်ကို ငဲ့ကွက်လျှင်၊ ဘုရားရှင်သည် နားထောင်တော်မမူ။” (ဆာလံကျမ်း ၆၆း၁၈)။ ယခုလို ဆိုလိုရင်းသည် လူတစ်ယောက်သည် သူဆုမတောင်းခင် ပြီးပြည့်စုံနေရမည်ဟု ဆိုလိုခြင်းမဟုတ်ပါ။ ဘုရားသခင်သည် အကြိမ်ကြိမ် မကောင်းသောအရာများလုပ်သူများကို သူ့ထံ ကိုးကွယ်ကြဖို့ ဖိတ်ခေါ်လျှက်ရှိသည်။ သို့ပေမယ့် သင့်မှာ သင်ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့သော မကောင်းမှုများထံမှ စွန့်လွှတ်နိုင်စိတ်မရှိလျှင် သင်တောင်းသမျှ ဆုတောင်းများသည် အဖတ်တင်မည်မဟုတ်ပါ။
ဟေရှာယ ဆိုသည်မှာ “ကြည့်ရှုလော့။ ထာဝရဘုရားသည်မကယ်မတင် နိုင်အောင် လက်တော်တိုသည်မဟုတ်။ မကြားနိုင်အောင် နားတော်ထိုင်းသည်မဟုတ်။သင်တို့ ဒုစရိုက်သည် သင်တို့ကို ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် ကွာစေပြီ။ ကြားတော်မမူစေခြင်းငှါ၊ သင်တို့အပြစ်သည် မျက်နှာတော်ကို လွှဲစေပြီ။”(ဟေရှာယ ၅၉း၁,၂)။
မကောင်းမှုများသည် လူသားနှင့် ဘုရားသခင်ကို အလှမ်းကွာစေသည်။ သင့်ဖုန်း သို့မဟုတ် အခြား digital network connection များကြားတွင် တည်ရှိနေတတ်သော အမှိုက်စ တစ်ခုကဲ့သို့ စွမ်းအင်စီးဆင်းမှုကို အနှောင့်အယှက် ဖြစ်၊ ရပ်တန့်စေသည်။
တပည့်များဟာ ရူးသွပ်တဲ့လူနှင့် သူ၏ သားတစ်ယောက်နဲ့ရင်ဆိုင်ရတဲ့အခါ
တစ်ကိုယ်ကောင်းဆန်စွာနှင့် တောင်းဆိုခဲ့သော ဆုတောင်းများကို လည်းဖြေဆိုခြင်းမရှိခဲ့ပါ။ ယာကုပ်သည် ” ဆုတောင်းလျှင်လည်း ကာမဂုဏ်ခံစားစရာတို့ရှိစေခြင်း
၇) ယေရှု၏ နာမည်ကို တိုင်တည်ပြီး ဆုတောင်းရသည်။
“သင်တို့သည် ငါ၏နာမကိုအမှီပြုလျက် ဆုတောင်းသမျှအတိုင်း ငါပြုမည်။ အကြောင်းမူကာ၊ ခမည်း တော်သည် သားတော်အားဖြင့် ဘုန်းထင်ရှားတော်မူခြင်းရှိမည်
နိဂုံး
သင် နားမလည်သော အကြောင်းအရာများ တစ်ခုခုကြောင့်လည်း သင်ဆုတောင်းသည့် အရာများ ဖြစ်မြောက်လာဖို့ ကြန့်ကြာနေခြင်းလည်း ဖြစ်တတ်ပါသည်။ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ဆက်လက် ယုံကြည်ပြီး ဆုတောင်းနေပါ။ ပေါ၏ အတွေ့အကြုံကို သတိရပါ။ ဒမစကပ်မြို့ ၏ လမ်းမထက်ပေါ်တွင် နေထက် လင်းသော အလင်းရောင်တစ်ခု၏ ရိုက်ခတ်ခြင်းခံရပြီးနောက် သူ၏ အသားထဲတွင် အဆူးတစ်ခု ဆူး၀င်နေသည်ကို ခံစားခဲ့ရပါသည်။ သုံးကြိမ်တိတိ သူသည် ဘုရားသခင်ထံ ထိုနာကျင်မှုကို ပျောက်သွားအောင် တောင်းဆိုပါသည်။ (၂ ကောရိန္သု ၁၂း၈) ကို ညွှန်းဆိုပါသည်။ ထိုနာကျင်မှုသည် ပျောက်ကွယ်မသွားသည့် အပြင် သူ့အား သူ၏ စိတ်ဝိညာဉ်ကို ဆက်လက် ထိန်းသိမ်းနိုင်းစွမ်းရှိစေခြင်း အတွက် သူအတွက် အမှာစာတစ်ခုကို ပေးအပ်ခြင်းခံခဲ့ရသည်။ “ငါ့ကျေးဇူးသည် သင့်အဘို့ လောက်ပေ၏။ ငါ့တန်ခိုးသည် အားနည်းခြင်းအဖြစ်၌ စုံလင်တတ်သည် ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ ထိုကြောင့် ခရစ်တော်၏ တန်ခိုးသည် ငါ့အပေါ်၌ ကျိန်းဝပ်မည်အကြောင်း ငါကိုယ်၌ အား နည်းခြင်းအဖြစ်ကို ဝမ်းမြောက်သောစိတ်နှင့် ဝါကြွားခြင်းငှါ သာ၍ ငါအလိုရှိ၏။” ( ၂ ကောရိန္သု ၁၂း၉)
ဘုရားသခင်သာ သိသော အကြောင်းတရားများကြောင့် ထိုအရာသည် ပေါအတွက် သူ၏ အခက်အခဲများကို ရင်ဆိုင်ရာတွင် အထောက်အကူအဖြစ်ဆုံးဖြစ်စေခဲ့သည်
ထိုအရာသည် သင့်ထံမှာလည်း ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါသည်။ ထို့ကြောင့် ယုံကြည်မှုကို အဆုံးအရှုံးမခံပါနှင့်။ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ယုံကြည်မှုဆက်ရှိပါ။ “ထာဝရဘုရားသည် သနားတော်မူ၍ ကရုဏာ တော်သည် မကုန်သောကြောင့် ငါတို့သည် ဆုံးရှုံးခြင်းသို့ မရောက်ဘဲနေကြ၏။ နံနက်တိုင်းကရု
မြောက်မြားလှစွာသော မေးခွန်းများ အလွန်တွင် သင်သိနိုင်သည်က ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကြီးမြတ်မှုသည် သင့်အတွက် လုံလောက်ပါသည်။
